Dos pasajeros japoneses del crucero "Diamond Princess" que estaban infectados con coronavirus, murieron este miércoles, confirmó el Gobierno de Japón.

Los fallecidos eran un hombre de 87 años y una mujer de 84, y ambos tenían complicaciones de salud previas, informó EFE. Son las dos primeras víctimas mortales del COVID-19, como se denomina a la enfermedad causada por coronavirus, de entre los 621 pasajeros infectados. Entre los contagiados hay un argentino.

Mientras, otros pasajeros, algunos infectados y otros no, continúan abandonando el barco, que se encuentra en cuarentena en el puerto japonés de Yokohama. Este jueves desembarcará un segundo grupo de pasajeros, después de los 443 que dejaron la embarcación el miércoles.

Un tercer grupo de unas 2000 personas dejará el 'Diamond Princess' el viernes, mientras que todos los que han tenido contactos cercanos con personas afectadas tendrán que quedarse algún tiempo más, hasta que se confirme que no están afectados.

El crucero, el mayor foco puntual de la epidemia fuera de China, llevaba a bordo inicialmente a 3.700 personas, 2.666 pasajeros y 1.045 tripulantes. Se han tomado muestras para comprobar si estaban afectados por el brote a todos los pasajeros.
