Rafael Nadal (número uno del planeta) venció en tres sets corridos de 6-3, 6-3 y 6-4 a Kevin Anderson (32) y se consagró campeón del Abierto de tenis de Estados Unidos en Nueva York.

El español, que venía de superar a Juan Martín del Potro, se impuso sin problemas ante el sudraficano para obtener su tercer título de US Open.

Esta conquista hizo aún más grande la leyenda de Rafa: es su ​decimosexta corona de Gran Slam.
